This study examined data from 1,149 university students who wore Fitbit devices to track sleep patterns and academic performance data from university records. The research found that targeted sleep interventions, which included bedtime reminders and immediate financial incentives, increased the proportion of nights students slept at least seven hours by 26% during the intervention. This improvement in sleep led to an increase in term GPAs by 0.075 to 0.088 grade points, particularly in STEM courses.
